Admissions Criteria

Applicants are considered irrespective of age, sex, race, color, religion, disability, marital status or national origin.


Minimum Entrance Standards



The JRCERT has recently revised its graduation criteria and as a result the Saint Francis School of Radiography has revised its own Admission Criteria as follows:

Upon applying for admission to The Saint Francis School of Radiography, all applicants must meet the following academic and technical standards:

  1. Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent. (Foreign transcript must be evaluated by an outside agency to prove U.S. equivalency.) A detailed report may be obtained through:

  2. Applicant must complete General Education courses. All college credits (101 level or higher) must total a minimum of 15 credit hours with a grade of C or better in each course.

  3. Applicant must demonstrate a current (within the last 5 years) math and science background by possessing from a collegiate institution:
    • Mathematics (3 credit hours minimum)
    • Anatomy and Physiology

    Additional requirements in General Education from a collegiate level are:
    • Computer Science
    • English
    • Medical Terminology

    Suggested courses to complete General Education requirements include:
    • Humanities/Fine Arts, Social/Behavioral Sciences, or Speech

  4. Applicant must submit three character references (two professional and one personal - may not include immediate family or self) on the provided reference form.

  5. Applicant must complete the specified testing requirement issued by the program, the PSB Revised Health Occupations Aptitude Examination.

  6. U.S. residents whose native language is not English will require a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination with a minimum predetermined score. Applicants may be asked to show passports, alien registration cards or immigration papers to verify U.S. residency.

  7. Applicant must participate in an interview.

  8. Applicant must complete a physical examination, including drug testing, criminal background check, and technical standard compliance form.

Saint Francis does not accept transfer (credits) from other radiography programs.


Technical Standards

The Saint Francis School of Radiography Admissions Committee has specified the following nonacademic criteria (technical standards) which all applicants are expected to meet in order to participate and complete the Radiography Program.

The student must be able to:

  • Visually inspect radiographs to evaluate film quality and patient positioning.

  • Communicate with patients and staff (verbally and audibly).

  • Participate in classroom studies using verbal and written English formats.

  • Stand/walk up to 8 hours per day providing patient care and diagnostic testing in the clinical setting.

  • Utilize Computer and Radiographic room control panels. Climb on step stool to position patients.

  • Lift and carry patients when assisting in transfers from wheelchairs, carts and beds.

  • Carry cassettes and supplies up to 15 pounds.

  • Wear full-length lead aprons up to 5 pounds.

  • Reach and stoop to maneuver equipment and patients.

  • Position patients and operate equipment (stationary and mobile) simultaneously by using bilateral gross and fine motor dexterity.

  • Document treatment in written form.

  • Communicate verbally with patients, families, nurses, physicians, staff and other students as well as possess good vision and hearing.
