Facts and Information
Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois opened its doors January 1, 1901 as a 25-bed hospital run entirely by five Sisters from the Sisters of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration in Lafayette, Indiana. As the number of patients increased, the hospital underwent a number of expansion plans including a School of Nursing (closed in 1998, having graduated over 3,100 nurses), a Physician Residency Program, a School of Radiography, the Galvin Heart Center and Professional Office Buildings.
Now over 100 years old, Saint Francis Hospital is a 375-bed, full service medical facility that provides high-quality, compassionate and family-centered medical care to residents of Evanston and its surrounding communities. The hospital is a recognized leader in cardiac and emergency trauma services.
In 1997, Saint Francis Hospital became part of Resurrection Health Care, a non-profit, Catholic health care system in Chicago, including hospitals, nursing homes, retirement communities, a surgery center, behavioral health services, a home health company, hospice services and outpatient and medical office facilities.
