Saint Francis Hospital is proud to offer full-field digital mammography. What does this mean for you?

• Advanced imaging - The technology is noted for its ability to emphasize contrasts and identify abnormalities that may not be as visible on traditional film mammography.
• Less exposure to radiation - The radiation used in a typical mammogram is very small and with digital mammography the risk is even smaller.
• Reduced exam time - A digital mammography exam usually takes less than half the time of a traditional film-based exam. With digital mammography, images are processed electonically in real-time. This results in shorter examination times and significantly improved patient comfort and convenience.
• A built-in "second opinion" - Digital mammography is used in conjunction with a computer aided detection system - often referred to as a second opinion - that identifies potential concerns even before the radiologist views the results.

Discovering Breast Cancer Earlier

The American Cancer Society recommends the following prevention guidelines:

• Women over 40:
  • Get an annual mammogram
  • Obtain an annual clinical breast exam by a healthcare professional
  • Perform monthly breast self-exams
• Women 20-39:
  • Obtain a clinical breast exam by a healthcare professional every three years
  • Perform monthly breast self-exams

Expert Testing

Our Breast Center testing is conducted by Board Certified Radiologists and registered technologists specially certified in mammography and ultrasound.

The Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology under the direction of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is in compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA).

The Breast Center has also been designated a Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.

Location and Hours

The Breast Center is located in Saint Francis Hospital's professional building, East Tower, 5th Floor. It is accessible from the parking lot directly in front of the professional office building. Parking is free.
